Telluride – where to stay, where to eat, and what to do!

Honestly I’m so glad we stayed in town rather than the mountain village since we were walking distance to everything!

Lodging

Camel Gardens Hotel right at the base of the ski lift. They offered a great fall deal if you’re going between seasons, the gondola to the mountain village was closed but we didn’t mind hiking instead.

Also I have to note that when we had to cancel the week of because of a sick kiddo they were so understanding and allowed me to even though I was past the deadline. So thankful we were able to make it anyway and simply rebook.

Amenities:

Free breakfast included, fireplace in our room, huge outdoor hot tub, so close to everything!

▪️Coffee / bakeries: so many good ones!

Coffee Cowboy truck was right outside the hotel ☕️! Great lattes and have burritos most mornings.

Baked in Telluride: Great doughnuts and bagels! They also serve pizza and soup and sandwiches!

The Butcher and the Baker – farm to table restaurant with full bar as well! We had a homemade pop tart and enjoyed coffee with view!

▪️Dinner:

Brown Dog Pizza – Detroit style which isn’t typically our favorite but get the one with hot honey 🍯… omg! I have my tattoo artist to thank for that recommendation 😅.

Wood Ear! This has changed my idea of Texas BBQ forever I’m afraid! Smoked brisket on ramen 🍜 … I’ll never be the same!

What we did:

Drove up to Mountain Village and hiked Coonskin Mountain Via Ridge Trail (all trails). Easy two mile hike with great views

Via Ferrata – the obvious highlight! The views, the rush of hanging on the side of a mountain suspended 200 feet above ground, it was so much fun! I’ll never forget it! We booked the climb through Mountain Trip which provides equipment and a guide! Worth the money in our opinion. First of all they too were very accommodating when I had to call to cancel with our sick kiddo. I was so grateful to them and happy they still had availability when we rebooked. Also, our guide was great. So friendly, helpful, and took great pictures for us to have forever!
