Asking Military Kids a Better Question

Just over here pondering my boy’s childhoods knowing that military life can be bitter sweet for so many kids.

Like all military and missionary kids, mine will grow up having a hard time with the question,

“Where are you from?”

But is that the strongest identity marker anyway?

Maybe a better question (or follow up question) we can start asking is,

“What is something you remember about your childhood?”

Praying they grow up with a strong since of identity not because they’re from (fill in the blank), but because they know,

  1. Who made made them.
  2. Who loves them.
